Biking at its Peak! Descend Pikes Peak and Gold Camp Road by Mountain E-Bike.
Colorado E-Bike rides are the original E-Bike tour, because it’s downhill the whole way. AOW has two riding options: The standard E-bike is powered by rechargeable batteries, and the traditional “environmental-bike” is powered by gravity, solar energy, and organic material – you! These rides are downhill, so almost no extra power is required but the extra boost helps. Pikes Peak by E-Bike is the thrill of a lifetime and quoted as “the best bike tour in North America.” If you’ve never been on a bike ride in the Colorado Rockies, you are missing out. Our professional guide will lead you through the aspen groves, train tunnels, canyons, and trails of the Pikes Peak region. Make your choice of a classic mountain bike or a powerful Rocky Mountain E-bike.
New to E-Bikes? We offer private ride options for those who are looking to get back into biking and are looking to ride at their own pace. Ask our agent for details.
AOW also offers traditional bikes for those who do not want the E-bike or to accommodate group tours over 12 people.
Why choose Adventures Out West?
You can trust AOW for an amazing experience because the tours have been refined since 1973. You will get to ride with an experienced mountain bike guide who will show you the beautiful landscape of Colorado and keep you safe while you have fun.
Your ride up the mountain will be in a custom-built adventure vehicle, not a stuffy van.

Adventures Out West has a world-famous bike team that will ensure your adventure down the mountain is a memory for a lifetime. AOW’s custom-built Jeeps are perfect for seeing the mountain unobstructed, ensuring you an amazing experience.
Your expedition starts when you meet your team and gear up at the bike shop. At check-in, you will be fitted and will test ride a perfectly maintained Rocky Mountain E-bike. Appropriate attire and a working knowledge of bikes is required. Long pants, a sweatshirt and sport shoes are the minimum items. Summit parkas and neck gaiters will be handed out for your crisp air journey to the summit. Gloves and a hat are welcome to be brought along. It is a 1.5-hour drive to the summit of America’s Mountain. All tours leave early in the morning to offer an adventure that is low on traffic and high on beautiful weather.
The drive to the summit is breathtaking. This is also your chance to check out the route you will be descending. Winding curves and cute critters dot the way. You will be riding with a local tour guide that will tell you all about Colorado and Pikes Peak. History, Geology, Flora, Fauna, and tales of the West are some of the things you will hear about.
Arriving at the summit is an unmatched experience. It’s the view that inspired Catherine Lee Bates to write ‘America the Beautiful.’ You will also see the brand new $20,000,000.00 Visitor Center. You will have a few minutes to enjoy the experience at the top and then it’s time to mount up and ride back down.
7,500 vertical feet of downhill, Yee-haw! Our guide leads your Colorado E-bike ride adventure, and the support vehicle will follow to help with any unplanned needs or if you just need to take a break. A few more stops along the way for photo ops, then an epic finish at the base of the mountain. The vehicles will bring you back to the office.
Temperatures will be 30-40 degrees cooler than Colorado Springs and the air is thin. Most mornings the summit temperature is near freezing. Dress in layers. Long pants or sweats or appropriate. You can put extra cloths in the chase vehicle as you warm up.
Guests who are uncomfortable with the bike or those who want to come along to watch and experience Pikes Peak with their friends can ride in the Jeep for a reduced fee of $129 for the tour. You, the guest, are in charge of the bicycle. People can and do fall. If you break your bike you will ride in the Jeep for the remainder of your tour. We have CPR trained guides on tour and hope they are not needed. Please follow your guide and keep your speeds under control and you will likely have an incident free activity.
PRIVATE TOURS ARE AVAILABLE FOR THOSE WHO PREFER THEIR OWN SPEED AND SCHEDULE.

Adventure Overview:
Take a ride through history…
This Colorado E-bike ride is best suited for anyone who wants a moderate ride but also wants to get off the beaten path. The route has some intermediate to advanced sections depending on rider ability. Great for corporate adventures!
Our world-famous Gold Camp tour just got a little better with the addition of E-bikes! Although there are not a lot of hills that you have to climb, there are a few and having a powerful motor keeps you from breaking a sweat. The big benefit to adding an E-bike is it will allow you to ride with excellent efficiency and confidence. An E-bike can be a tremendous benefit if you have any concerns with keeping up with the group. Lastly, the biggest benefit is you can go home and tell everyone you rode a Rocky Mountain E-bike in the Colorado mountains and you crushed it.
The tour offers great vistas of Colorado Springs, Cheyenne Canyon, and the Eastern plains of Colorado. The 17-mile ride starts at St. Peter’s Dome overlook and follows the Historic Gold Camp Road. The route is on an old railroad bed used for transporting gold at the turn of the century. The trail will descend on through beautiful aspen and pine forests, old railroad tunnels, and rock formations that will take your breath away.
The road is gravel, which at times can be loose. Experienced mountain bikers consider this ride easy with intermediate sections. Those who are new to mountain biking will find the ride a worthy challenge but not too crazy. To do this entire ride plan on it taking three hours or more. It is easy to shorten the ride depending upon the needs of the group.
2 guest minimum for booking. Singles, please call the office.
I couldn’t resist adding the Zipline and now I own the Trifecta T! Awesome!
