Here are a couple of tales from one of our seasoned drivers, Denim, with kiddos heading up Pikes Peak.
From December of 2023 “Family of 5 up the Peak – Devils Playground is 16 degrees before wind – 2 kids in the middle seat of Sarge – ‘How do we get the windows down?’ ‘Just crank ’em.’ ‘Do what??’ The kids had never seen a window without a push button.”
From August of 2025 “Two kids – 30 bighorns, marmots everywhere – Didn’t know how to get windows down. In Skyline you have to crank ’em down.”

It’s funny how times change. What will our kids have to explain to the next generation? This made enough of an impression on Denim to write two stories about it (2 years apart, mind you), and it may have left the parents with a funny story to tell later or taught the kids a life lesson that may or may not come in handy later.
